From Humble Beginnings: Japanese Genmaicha Reaches the World
The explosion in the popularity of tea continues and one variety that has taken a while to reach the public consciousness is genmaicha tea. This blend of green tea and roasted rice is now being appreciated for its warm, subtle flavour, and its fun side just adds to its appeal. The underlying beauty of the green tea receives a happy boost from the rice and the fact that a few grains may burst like popcorn. It's a vibrant market out there, the retail tea business, with lots of competition, and Japanese genmaicha stands out like a charismatic elder amongst the jostling youngsters – although ironically, genmaicha tea has great appeal for the younger generation.
Sometimes used originally as an inexpensive filler to bulk out more expensive types of tea, Japanese genmaicha now has a great following in Australia and the wider world.
Why Genmaicha and Why Teavision?
Lucas and Belinda started Teavision in 2014 with a vision of bringing fabulous and relatively unknown teas to the world and doing it in a thoroughly 21st-century way. We source our products from ethical farms and in addition to their being naturally perfect as part of a health and wellness-focused lifestyle, we run a HACCP-certified food and safety program. Our products are ACO-certified organic and USDA organic. We love to engage with the community and practise diversity and inclusivity, as evidenced by our multicultural and multigenerational workforce.
In our quest to provide retailers and tea shops in Australia with the products that will establish their credibility in the community, we offer additional services such as bulk buying, biodegradable non-GMO pyramid teabags and individual blends.
